DD (Don’t Derail) Day

Wed 20th August departs Central Station at 09:15

Pru Goward the NSW Minister for Developers and her predecessor Brad Hazzard are planning to cut the Newcastle rail line on the 26th of December so the land can be handed over to foreign developer corporations. Funneling the sale through Urban Growth NSW this will improve the NSW Budget forecasts for the March election.

Then of course there is the question (see ICAC) of just how much money was given by Newcastle developers (like the Mayor) to local Liberal candidates and the NSW Liberal  party before the decision was made?

Wednesday 20th August leaving Sydney on the 09.15 train from Central.

Arrive Newcastle 11.50. Speeches and a tour of the affected area will follow then 14.00 press conference.

We need as many people as possible there to attend, hold placards and banners, plus to make a showing at the press conference.

It will be a fun day out in a beautiful historic beach side city.

It’s also your chance to meet Alannah MacTiernan, formerly WA infrastructure minister, who built the Mandurah line. She’s currently federal member for Perth.

With the ICAC revelations things are changing in our favour almost hourly. John Robertson has already announced Labor will reverse any truncation and he’s up in Newcastle today saying this. We’re now in a strong position to campaign for what SHOULD happen – track improvements must be used to get Sydney-Newcastle journey time down below 2 hours. With our videos we’ve articulated that!
